Erik Sweet enlisted in the Navy at 17 and served nearly half of his 26+ year career as a nuclear trained Electrician’s Mate, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer prior to being commissioned. With only two shore duty assignments in his career, he was a proud nuclear operator and Mustang mentor, whose inspirational leadership and personality lit up a room as he showed everyone a great time. The Texas native and Washington pub owner is survived by his wife, daughter, son, and scores of Texas relatives, Washington friends, and former Shipmates across the country. Since Erik’s voyage “over the rainbow” in Kailua, HI, his family, friends and followers honor him by keeping the WigWam Pub open, building his brewery, and running in team relay events year round as team “Sweet Beer Run.” Erik’s indomitable spirit lives on in the land of Aloha and in the hearts of everyone whom he loved.
